Rod warranties
Rod warranties and repairs
If you have broken a section of your rod you have two options: dealing with the manufacturer yourself, which is usually faster and saves you the cost of shipping the rod to us, or leaving it with us and we take care of everything. Before you decide, check the terms for your brand: they are not all the same, and with some of them you do not need to place an order at all.
1 · Dealing with the manufacturer yourself
This is the quickest route. These are the details for each manufacturer:
- Maxia · FlyCreek — maxiarods.com/reparaciones
- Guideline — guidelineflyfish.com/customer-service/returns
- Vision — distributor in Spain: Jon Huerga Landa, phone 944 22 18 01
For every other brand, the warranty has to be claimed through the shop where you bought the rod, whether that is ours or any other. In all cases the receipt or invoice is essential.
2 · Letting us handle it
Start with the terms for your brand, below: they are what tell you whether you need to place an order or simply write to us.
If your rod is a Guideline or a G-Loomis · Shimano, it is less than two years old and it broke while fishing, do not place an order. Write to [email protected] with a photo showing all the sections, the broken one included, and your proof of purchase: we will process it as a warranty claim and the section is free of charge.
Terms for each brand
Guideline
Covers the breakage of any section free of charge for the first two years, as long as it happened while fishing or was caused by a manufacturing or transport defect. Knocks, crushing and any other cause are excluded. After those two years the manufacturer takes the view that the rod left the factory in good order, and the section has to be paid for.
Within the first two years you do not need to place any order: email us a photo showing all the sections with the break visible, together with your proof of purchase, and we will handle it. If more than two years have passed, place the order choosing your model and tell us in the comments which section you need; we will send it to you as soon as we have it in stock.
Guideline undertakes to manufacture as many replacement sections as are needed for as long as the model is on the market, and European law requires it to keep making spares for three to five years after the model is discontinued.
G-Loomis · Shimano
Two years of warranty, for breakages while fishing only; never for drops, crushing or any cause unrelated to fishing. The manufacturer needs to examine the rod, so within those two years you do not need to place an order either: write to us, send us the rod at our premises in Madrid and we take care of everything. If the assessment confirms the warranty, they replace the section free of charge; if not, the section is charged for.
If the model has been discontinued and there are no spares left, the brand offers a commercial proposal to replace it with a current one.
Maxia · FlyCreek
Every model from this manufacturer costs the same. We need you to send us the rod together with the broken section; without the section, or part of it, the claim is not accepted as a warranty and the cost is higher. The process takes five to seven weeks from the day we receive the rod.
Vision
This brand has no warranty period: a replacement section always has to be paid for, whether in the first weeks of use or years later. To arrange it, place the order for your model and tell us in the comments which section you need. For butt sections, please ask us.
Orvis
Orvis has no warranty period either: a replacement section always has to be paid for, and the cost is 95 € for every model. Before placing your order, write to [email protected] with the following, which is what the manufacturer asks us for:
- Your name and the receipt or invoice.
- A photo of the rod showing all the sections, including the broken one.
- The serial number of the rod, in the format «BB…-…-…».
- Which section is broken, counting the tip as the first one.
Loomis & Franklin
No warranty period: the section always has to be paid for. Place the order and tell us in the comments the brand, the model and the section, counting from the tip.
Soldarini
No warranty period: the section always has to be paid for. As above, place the order telling us the brand, the model and the section, counting from the tip.
What you need to know before placing your order
- Keep the broken section. Every manufacturer requires it in order to grant a warranty: the section itself, a photo of it or, in some cases, the whole rod. Without it the claim is not accepted as a warranty and is treated as an additional section, at a higher cost that varies from brand to brand.
- The warranty covers the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sections. If what has broken is the butt section, the warranty carries a surcharge of between 40 and 60 € depending on the manufacturer and the rod model.
- Shipping is 8,65 € and is payable by you, unless you prefer to collect the rod from our shop in Madrid. In that case, choose the collect-in-store option when you place the order.
- A warranty order has to go on its own. It cannot be combined with other items, so if you want to buy anything else you will need to place two separate orders.
- Timescales are approximate. They depend on the manufacturer and may take longer for reasons outside our control.
How to place the order
Go to the Rod Warranty page, choose your model from the drop-down and place the order. In the comments field, tell us the brand, the model and which section is broken, counting from the tip. Once we receive your order we will call you to confirm the model and the section to be replaced.
Cannot find your brand?
Write to [email protected] with the brand, the model and a photo of the break, and we will tell you what your options are.
